TRUE NORTH INSULATION | NEW CONSTRUCTION

New Construction Insulation in Kalispell & the Flathead Valley, MT

Insulation is the one system in a new build that becomes permanently inaccessible the moment drywall goes up, which is why getting the specification and the installation right the first time matters more here than almost anywhere else in the project. True North Insulation works with custom builders, general contractors and owner-builders across Kalispell, Whitefish, Bigfork, Columbia Falls, Seeley Lake and Condon, from single-family homes to multifamily and light commercial.

PLAN THE WHOLE ENVELOPE

Why the Envelope Specification Matters

Proper insulation in a new home creates a highly effective thermal barrier that blocks heat flow, lowering energy use and holding a steady indoor temperature year-round. Stopping heat from escaping in winter and entering in summer cuts utility bills and eliminates the drafts and hot spots that generate callbacks. It also serves as a sound barrier that dampens outside noise and prevents sound from traveling between rooms, which buyers notice immediately in a finished home.

Proper installation also manages indoor condensation and moisture, protecting the structure from rot and preventing mold growth. And high-performance insulation supports the long-term resale value of the property, because buyers in this market pay attention to operating cost.

BUILDER-FOCUSED SERVICE

Benefits for Builders

A whole-envelope plan, not a materials list

We specify the assembly from sub-slab through roof deck as a single system, so the air control layer is continuous and the transitions are detailed.

On-schedule crews

Insulation sits on the critical path between rough-in and drywall. We hold our dates.

Code and inspection support

We handle thermal barrier requirements, provide R-value documentation, and are on site for inspection.

Fewer callbacks

Cold rooms, drafty floors and ice dams in year one are insulation problems that come back to the builder. A properly detailed envelope removes them.

Options across the price range

Full closed cell, hybrid assemblies, and conventional batt and blown-in packages, specified against what the project actually needs.

FROM FOUNDATION TO ROOF DECK

Where We Work in a New Build

Sub-slab insulation ahead of the pour, foundation and basement walls, crawl space walls and rim joists, exterior wall cavities, interior walls for sound control, floor systems over unconditioned space, attics and roof decks, and garage and shop separations. On high-performance builds we run closed cell as a continuous air and vapor control layer and add fiberglass, mineral wool or open cell foam over it to reach the target R-value.

Sub-Slab & Foundation

Plan insulation below the slab and at foundation assemblies as part of the building's overall thermal and moisture-control strategy.

Walls & Floor Systems

Specify insulation for exterior walls, interior sound-control walls and floors over unconditioned spaces.

Attics & Roof Decks

Coordinate insulation, air control and ventilation details for attic floors, roof decks and vaulted ceilings.

COORDINATED WITH YOUR BUILD SCHEDULE

Our New Construction Process

01

Plan review and takeoff.

We price from plans and flag any assembly detail that will cause a problem later.

02

Specification meeting.

Materials, thickness and R-value targets are agreed with the builder and owner before anything is ordered.

03

Rough-in coordination.

We schedule after mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-in and confirm sign-off before we start.

04

Installation.

Crews work in sequence, and we keep the site clean for the trades following us.

05

Thermal barrier and trim.

Foam is trimmed flush for drywall and coated wherever it stays exposed.

06

Inspection and handoff.

We are present for the insulation inspection and provide documentation for the file.

A BUILDER YOU CAN SCHEDULE AROUND

Why Choose True North for New Construction

Builders in this valley keep working with us because the schedule holds and the drywall crew does not have to wait. We have been doing this here for over fifteen years, our crews are our own, and we will tell you during plan review if something in the assembly is going to cause a moisture problem two winters from now.

COMMON QUESTIONS

New Construction Insulation FAQ

Can you price from plans?

Yes. Send the plans and we will produce a takeoff and a written scope with material specifications.

When in the schedule do you come in?

After mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-in and sign-off, and before drywall. We coordinate the date with the general contractor.

Do you handle sub-slab insulation?

Yes. Closed cell sprayed on a crushed stone or washed rock base forms a continuous thermal, moisture and radon barrier at around R-12 to R-13 for a two-inch layer, and it is an efficient backdrop for radiant floor heating.

What does a high-performance envelope look like here?

Typically a continuous closed cell air and vapor control layer at the critical assemblies, additional R-value from batt or mineral wool, careful detailing at every transition, and mechanical ventilation to match the tightness.

Do you work on remote sites?

Yes. We work regularly in Seeley Lake, Condon and other remote build locations and equip accordingly.

Do you provide documentation for the inspector?

Product data, R-value documentation and thermal barrier certification are all provided.
