TRUE NORTH INSULATION | CONCRETE LIFTING

Concrete Lifting & Leveling in Kalispell & the Flathead Valley, MT

When a driveway slab drops an inch and a half at the garage apron, or a sidewalk section tips enough to catch a toe, the slab itself is usually fine. The soil underneath it settled. Polyurethane foam lifting fixes that by filling the void and raising the slab back to level, and it is faster, cleaner and less disruptive than tearing out concrete and pouring new. True North Insulation lifts and levels concrete throughout Kalispell, Whitefish, Bigfork, Columbia Falls, Somers, Lakeside and Polson, and we give free on-site estimates.

HOW FOAM LIFTING WORKS

How Concrete Lifting with Foam Works

Concrete lifting and leveling with foam, also called polyjacking or foam jacking, is a fast and non-invasive repair method for sunken slabs. The process begins with our technicians drilling small penny-sized holes through the uneven concrete surface. A two-part liquid polyurethane mixture is then injected underneath the slab through those holes. Once injected, the liquid reacts and expands rapidly, filling the empty gaps in the underlying soil and precisely lifting the concrete back to its original position. The small drill holes are patched with concrete mortar, leaving a clean finish.

The lift is controlled in real time. Our technician watches the slab and manages injection so the concrete comes up evenly to the level you want rather than overshooting.

NORTHWEST MONTANA CONDITIONS

Why Slabs Settle in Northwest Montana

Frost heave and freeze-thaw cycling are the primary causes of settling in this climate. Water in the soil beneath a slab freezes and expands, lifting the concrete, then thaws and contracts, leaving a void the slab drops into. Repeat that through enough Flathead Valley winters and a slab that was poured level ends up an inch or more out. Poor initial compaction, erosion from downspouts and roof runoff, and soil washout along foundation edges all contribute as well.

A LESS DISRUPTIVE ALTERNATIVE

Benefits Over Full Replacement

Same-day use

The polyurethane foam cures in fifteen to thirty minutes, so foot or vehicle traffic can resume almost immediately after installation.

No weight added to weak soil

The foam is lightweight, which prevents it from loading sub-soils that already proved unable to support what was above them. Mudjacking slurry does the opposite.

It will not wash away

The material is waterproof and does not break down over time, so it will not erode the way the original soil did.

Your concrete stays

No demolition, no hauling, no curing period, no waiting weeks for new concrete to reach strength, and no mismatched patch of fresh gray next to weathered slab.

Minimal disruption

Most jobs are done in hours, the holes are penny-sized, and the landscaping stays where it is.

RESIDENTIAL & COMMERCIAL

What We Can Lift

Driveways and garage aprons, garage and shop floors, sidewalks and walkways, patios, front and back steps, pool decks, porch slabs, and interior slabs. If it is concrete and it has settled, it is usually a candidate. Slabs that are severely cracked into multiple pieces are the exception, and we will tell you honestly during the estimate if replacement is the better call.

Driveways & Garage Aprons

Address settled sections where the driveway meets the garage or adjacent concrete.

Sidewalks & Walkways

Correct uneven sections that can create trip hazards around homes and businesses.

Patios, Steps & Slabs

Evaluate settled patios, porch slabs, steps, garage floors and other suitable concrete surfaces.

FROM ASSESSMENT TO SAME-DAY USE

Our Concrete Lifting Process

01

Free on-site assessment.

We measure the settlement, identify the likely cause, and confirm the slab is structurally sound enough to lift.

02

Drill port layout.

Injection points are planned across the slab so the lift is controlled and even.

03

Drilling.

Penny-sized holes are drilled through the surface at the planned locations.

04

Injection and lift.

The two-part polyurethane is injected, expanding to fill voids and raise the slab while the technician monitors elevation continuously.

05

Patching.

Holes are filled with concrete mortar and finished flush.

06

Cleanup and use.

The site is cleaned and you can walk or drive on it right away.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Concrete Lifting FAQ

How long does the repair last?

The polyurethane is waterproof and does not decompose, wash out or lose volume, so the fill itself is permanent. What can change is the surrounding soil, which is why we look at drainage during the assessment.

How long does the job take?

Most residential driveways, patios and sidewalk sections are completed in a few hours. Larger commercial slabs take longer.

Can I drive on it the same day?

Yes. The foam cures in fifteen to thirty minutes and reaches full load capacity almost immediately, so vehicle traffic can resume the same day.

How is this different from mudjacking?

Mudjacking pumps a heavy cement slurry under the slab through much larger holes. Polyurethane foam uses penny-sized holes, weighs a fraction as much, cures in minutes rather than days, and will not erode.

Will the drill holes be visible?

They are patched with concrete mortar and finished flush. They are visible on close inspection and unnoticeable from a normal viewing distance.

Can cracked concrete be lifted?

Often yes, if the pieces are large and stable. Concrete that has broken into many small fragments generally needs replacement, and we will say so.

Does it work in winter?

The season affects scheduling more than the material. We assess conditions and advise on timing during the estimate.
