TRUE NORTH | CONCRETE LEVELING & REPAIR

Driveway, Garage Floor & Slab Leveling in Northwest Montana

A settled driveway or uneven garage floor doesn't necessarily mean the concrete needs to be replaced. In many cases, the slab itself is still in good condition, but the soil beneath it has shifted, settled or washed away. Concrete leveling with expanding polyurethane foam provides a way to restore support beneath the existing slab and bring uneven surfaces back toward their original elevation.

True North provides concrete leveling and driveway repair throughout Kalispell, Whitefish, Bigfork, Columbia Falls, Somers, Lakeside, Polson and the surrounding Flathead Valley. We work with homeowners and commercial property owners to evaluate settled concrete, identify potential causes and determine whether foam lifting is a suitable alternative to full replacement.

From driveway approaches and garage floors to shop slabs and commercial concrete surfaces, our goal is to restore usable concrete without the disruption of unnecessary demolition.

What Is Concrete Leveling?

Concrete leveling is a repair process used to correct uneven or sunken concrete slabs by restoring support beneath the existing surface. Rather than removing and replacing the entire slab, polyurethane foam lifting fills voids beneath the concrete and raises the affected area toward its intended position.

The process begins with small injection holes drilled through the slab. A specialized two-part polyurethane material is injected underneath the concrete, where it expands to fill open spaces and provide support. The technician carefully monitors the slab during injection to control the lift and bring the surface toward the desired elevation.

Once the repair is complete, the injection ports are patched with concrete repair material. The result is an existing slab that has been supported and repositioned without the extensive demolition associated with conventional replacement.

Concrete leveling is particularly useful when the existing slab remains structurally suitable for repair but has settled because of changes in the underlying soil.

BUILT FOR NORTHWEST MONTANA CONDITIONS

Why Concrete Settles in the Flathead Valley

Concrete settlement is often connected to the movement of soil beneath the slab. In northwest Montana, seasonal freezing and thawing can contribute to changes in soil volume and support. Water movement, poor drainage and inadequate soil compaction can also create voids that allow concrete to settle over time.

Freeze-Thaw Cycling

Seasonal freezing and thawing can move soil beneath concrete, contributing to uneven support and changes in slab elevation.

Water & Soil Erosion

Roof runoff, poor drainage and water movement can wash away supporting soil and create empty spaces beneath concrete.

Inadequate Soil Compaction

Soil that was not properly compacted before concrete placement can settle under the weight of the slab and surrounding loads.

A SMARTER REPAIR OPTION

Benefits of Polyurethane Concrete Leveling

Faster Project Completion

Polyurethane foam cures quickly, allowing many repaired surfaces to return to use much sooner than conventional concrete replacement.

Lightweight Material

Expanding polyurethane foam is substantially lighter than traditional cement-based lifting slurry, adding less weight to already vulnerable supporting soils.

Moisture Resistant

Closed-cell polyurethane lifting foam resists water absorption and provides support without relying on heavy cement slurry that can erode.

Preserve Existing Concrete

When the existing slab is suitable for repair, lifting can restore its position without removing and replacing the entire surface.

Less Site Disruption

Small injection openings and minimal excavation help reduce disruption to surrounding landscaping, driveways and property access.

RESIDENTIAL & COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS

Concrete Surfaces We Level

Polyurethane concrete lifting can be used on many types of concrete slabs where the existing material remains suitable for repair. We evaluate the condition of the slab, the extent of settlement and the supporting soil before recommending a repair approach.

Driveways & Garage Approaches

Correct settled driveway sections and uneven transitions where concrete meets garage floors, sidewalks and adjacent surfaces.

Garage & Shop Floors

Restore support beneath suitable garage and shop slabs that have settled or developed uneven sections.

Sidewalks & Walkways

Address uneven sidewalk sections and concrete walkways that have shifted, settled or developed trip hazards.

Patios & Outdoor Living Areas

Evaluate settled patio slabs and outdoor concrete surfaces where restoring level and support can improve usability.

Steps & Entry Slabs

Correct suitable settled concrete steps, entry pads and porch slabs to improve transitions around the property.

Commercial Concrete

Level suitable concrete sections around commercial properties, shop floors, building entrances and service areas.

LIFTING VS. REPLACEMENT

Concrete Leveling vs. Full Replacement

When concrete settles, many property owners immediately assume the entire slab needs to be removed and replaced. However, if the existing concrete is still in suitable condition, polyurethane lifting may provide a less disruptive repair option.

Replacement involves breaking up and hauling away the existing slab, preparing the supporting base, installing new concrete and allowing it to cure before normal use. Foam lifting works beneath the existing slab, restoring support without requiring the same demolition and reconstruction process.

The right choice depends on the condition of the concrete. Severely deteriorated, extensively fractured or structurally unsuitable slabs may still require replacement.

Consideration Polyurethane Lifting Full Replacement
Existing concrete Preserved when suitable for repair Removed and replaced
Demolition Small injection holes Existing slab broken up and removed
Material Expanding polyurethane foam New concrete and prepared base
Site disruption Generally minimal More extensive excavation and construction
Return to use Often within minutes after application, subject to the product and project Requires an appropriate concrete curing period
Best suited for Suitable settled slabs with repairable concrete Severely damaged or unsuitable concrete

Not every slab should be lifted. Our team evaluates the existing concrete and underlying conditions before recommending a repair. If replacement is the better long-term solution, we'll explain why.

FROM ASSESSMENT TO COMPLETION

Our Concrete Leveling Process

01

On-Site Assessment

We inspect the concrete, measure settlement and determine whether the existing slab is a suitable candidate for foam lifting.

02

Injection Point Planning

Injection locations are selected based on the slab dimensions, settlement pattern and areas requiring additional support.

03

Precision Drilling

Small injection ports are drilled through the concrete to provide access to the voids beneath the slab.

04

Polyurethane Injection

Two-part polyurethane foam is injected beneath the concrete, expanding to fill open spaces and restore support.

05

Controlled Slab Lifting

Our technician monitors the slab throughout the process and carefully adjusts the injection to bring the concrete toward the intended elevation.

06

Port Patching & Cleanup

Injection openings are patched with concrete repair material, the work area is cleaned and the completed repair is reviewed.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Concrete Leveling & Driveway Repair FAQ

How much does concrete driveway leveling cost?

Pricing depends on the size of the slab, the amount of settlement, access conditions and the volume of foam required. A site assessment allows us to determine the scope and provide an accurate estimate.

How long does concrete leveling take?

Many residential concrete lifting projects can be completed in a few hours. Larger slabs, multiple repair areas and more complicated settlement conditions may require additional time.

Can I drive on my driveway after foam lifting?

Polyurethane lifting foam cures quickly, and many repaired surfaces can return to use shortly after installation. The exact timing depends on the product, application and project conditions. Your technician will provide instructions for your repair.

Will the repaired concrete look brand new?

Concrete lifting restores the position and support of an existing slab. It does not remove existing stains, surface wear, cracks or discoloration. Injection holes are patched after the repair and may remain visible on close inspection.

Will concrete leveling prevent future settlement?

Foam lifting fills voids and provides support beneath the slab, but it cannot eliminate every cause of future soil movement. Drainage, erosion and other underlying conditions should be evaluated as part of the repair.

When should concrete be replaced instead of lifted?

Replacement may be more appropriate when a slab is extensively cracked, severely deteriorated, broken into many unstable sections or otherwise unsuitable for lifting. We evaluate the condition before recommending a repair.
